In The Coiffured  Graham brings art history, hairdressing history and her expert knowledge of hairdressing techniques together in the artworks. The art practice is research-led. A sociological lens reveals the hairdressing profession's rich and fantastic history. The artist  explores the significant landmarks in the history of hairdressing, Thus, her creative approach provokes a revaluation of historical art from the perspective of a hairstylist, acknowledging the collaborative process.

Graham’s installation, Stage Left, blurs the boundaries of personal experiences and narratives by championing the human imagination to escape its bleak realities. The imagery is immersed in the traditions of Warner Brothers, Looney-Tunes and Hana-Barbera cartoons, ubiquitous and familiar imagery that is a key to penetrating the unconscious memory of the observer to create spontaneous reactions.

A Tribute To The Irish Community Butte Montana 1916-1919 is both biographical and autobiographical. It revolves around memory, narrative and family history told to Amanda Jane Graham by her Grandmother of her own childhood memories. Graham uses personal history and combines it with humour to create quirky and humorous characters and scenes.

Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival

Commuovere was an open-call exhibition curated by Amanda Jane Graham that captured unique voices through visual art. It is a Latin word meaning to affect, stir, or touch emotionally. Diversity and inclusion in society and culture were central to the open-call exhibition. Commuovere sparked discussion by creating a public space for conversation, building new connections, and fostering understanding and inclusion. 

2015 — Don't Step On The Cracks

Solas Gallery, Ballinamore

Don’t Step On The Cracks, curated by Amanda Jane Graham, presents the work of eight contemporary artists. The title recalls a game, rhyme, and superstition recorded in print and reenacted as far back as the 19th century. Initially, it seems carefree, but it carries dark undertones. Don’t Step On The Cracks refers not only to superstitions and childhood games but also to fearful environments that so many in our history and culture have experienced. The exhibition addresses abandonment and oppression, memory and narrative, and play and humour, creating a chain reaction that is both unnerving and uplifting.

2013 — Engage

Old Providers Building, Longford

Amanda Jane Graham co-curated Engage and co-founded Engage Longford in 2016. It was a not-for-profit group that converted a large vacant landmark building in the centre of Longford town into a vast exhibition space.
